Delicious a social bookmarking service that started in 2003 was acquired by Yahoo in 2005 and now sold to the founders of YouTube, Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.Today I got an email from Delicious that things have changed now regarding Delicious and the founders of Youtube who were earlier working at Paypal has acquired Delicious and now will become part of their new Internet company, AVOS.
As per Email : If you wish to continue using Delicious, you must agree to let Yahoo! transfer your bookmarks to AVOS. After a transition period and after your bookmarks are transferred, you will be subject to the AVOS terms of service and privacy policy.
So you should transfer all your bookmarks to the new owner because if we dont transfer it we can still access Delicious in its current form till July 2011 but after that we wont be able to use our existing Delicious account neither will have access to our existing bookmarks or account information.
How to transfer your bookmarks from Delicious to AVOS :
1 ) Just login to your Delicious account
2 ) You will see the screen as shown above simply click on I Agree and you will see a confirmation message Thanks for Agreeing to the AVOS Terms of Service!
This simple two step process helps in preventing our Delicious account so why dont complete it now instead of waiting till July 2011 who knows if we have time then or not.Also let us know what do you think about this acquisition?I have also heard that Yahoo is closing its buzz service soon or I think its already closed,at my end its not working and redirecting to http://in.yahoo.com/.What about you?Is it working at your side?It seems yahoo want to concentrate more on its search engine and email service that is why closing and selling its other services.
